How Much Do Wedding Flowers Cost?

So you’re getting married!? That’s exciting (and overwhelming), but luckily for you there are a ton of great resources to help you with every stage of your planning, including my blog and my Free Wedding Timeline and Checklist!

If you’ve taken my advice right from the beginning, you’ve likely just got engaged, and it’s time to find a florist. But before you start booking consultations, set a wedding flower budget.

How much should I budget for my wedding flowers?

First, you should know whats typically included in a wedding flower package. The essentials are:

Her Side of the Family

  • Bridal bouquet
  • Bridesmaid bouquet
  • Flower Girl basket
  • Mother(s)
  • Grandmother(s)

His Side of the Family

  • Groom
  • Groomsmen/Ushers
  • Ring bearer
  • Father(s)
  • Grandfather(s)

When pricing wedding flower packages, the number of people in your wedding party will affect the price. During your initial consultation florists will often take a ‘head party count’, which they will then use to determine the total price by factoring in the following:

Factors That Affect Wedding Flower Prices

  1. Types of Flowers
Given that you arent requesting [rare, expensive flower] from [exotic, far off place], most florists will be competitive and pretty standard as far as per stem pricig goes. however, the cost of the flowers is just the beginning in a list of factors that affect wedding flower prices.
  2. Supply and Demand: Flowers
Many people are unaware that certain flowers only grow in certain countries and/or continents, as well as during certain seasons. Its for these reasons that flowers are more expensive at certain times of the year, therefore affecting price.
  3. Supply and Demand: Florist
This is rather self explanatory, but most in-demand wedding florists tend to book a year or more in advance, and threfore tend to charge a premium for bookings of shorter notice.
  4. Time & Energy
Most florists dont advertise an hourly rate, but depending on the nature of a brides requests, and the amount of time it will take to create, prices may vary.
  5. Talent & Creativity
    Great artists cost more, period.

So, How Much Do Wedding Flowers Cost?

It Depends.

Average wedding flower packages typically cost between $500-$1500 for a party of 20 or less. Once you’ve had your consultation, your florist will be able to quote you an exact
price, but until then budget for the maximum, that way you wont get disappointed.

A lot of times brides can save a few bucks by handing over creativity to their florist, allowing them to work with what is in your budget, and what’s in season instead of spending the entire budget on more expensive flowers to try and create something particular.
